In Microsoft Word, you can repeat an image to create a pattern or background effect using the "Fill Effects" option. Here's how you can do it:

1.    Insert the Image: Start by inserting the image you want to repeat into your Word document. To do this, click on the "Insert" tab in the top menu, then choose "Pictures" or "Online Pictures" to insert an image from your computer or the internet, respectively.

2.    Format the Image: Once the image is inserted, click on the image to select it. You should see the "Format" tab appear in the top menu.

3.    Open the "Format Picture" Pane: Click on the "Format" tab, and then click on the small arrow icon in the bottom right corner of the "Picture Styles" group. This will open the "Format Picture" pane on the right side of the window.

4.    Choose the "Fill" Option: In the "Format Picture" pane, click on the "Fill" option, which looks like a paint bucket.

5.    Select the "Picture or Texture Fill" Option: In the "Fill" options, choose the "Picture or texture fill" radio button.

6.    Choose the Image: Click on the "File" button under the "Insert from" section to browse for the image you want to repeat. Select the image and click "Insert."

7.    Set the Tiling Options: Under the "Tile Options" section, you can adjust how the image is repeated. You can choose "Tile" to repeat the image both vertically and horizontally, or you can choose "Horizontally" or "Vertically" to repeat it only in one direction.

8.    Adjust Offset and Transparency (Optional): The "Offset X" and "Offset Y" options allow you to shift the position of the repeated images. The "Transparency" slider lets you adjust the transparency of the repeated images, which can create interesting effects.

9.    Apply and Close: Once you are satisfied with the settings, click on the "Close" button in the "Format Picture" pane to apply the repeated image as the background or pattern.

Please note that the quality of the repeated image may depend on the original image's size and resolution. Experiment with different images and settings to achieve the desired effect.
